Section 1: Short title, extent and commencement
Short title, extent and commencement. -
(1)
This Act may be called the Bengal Money-lenders Act, 1940.(2)
It extends to the whole of [West Bengal] [Words substituted for the word 'Bengal' by the Indian Independence (Adaptation of Bengal and Punjab Acts) Order, 1948.][but it it shall not apply to the Reserve Bank of India constituted by the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934] [Words and figures Inserted by W.B.
