Section 10: Assistant Commissioners

Assistant Commissioners.

(1)

The State Government may, by notification, appoint to each district as many Assistant Commissioners as it may deem expedient; all such Assistant Commissioners and all other officers employed in the Revenue Administration of the district shall be subordinate to the [Regional Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner] [Substituted by Act 17 of 2007 w.e.f. 5.1.2007.].

The State Government, may place any Assistant Commissioner appointed under sub-section (1) to be in-charge of the revenue administration of [x x x] [Omitted by Act 7 of 1969 w.e.f. 17.4.1969.] one or more taluks called a Revenue Sub-Division. Such Assistant Commissioner shall perform all the duties and exercise all the powers conferred upon the Assistant Commissioner by this Act or any other law for the time being in force. Such Assistant Commissioner shall also, subject to the provisions of Chapter V and to the orders of the State Government, if any, perform all the duties and exercise all the powers conferred upon the Deputy Commissioner by this Act or any other law for the time being in force.

(3)

An Assistant Commissioner appointed under sub-section (1), but not placed in-charge of a Revenue Sub-Division under sub-section (2) shall, subject to the orders of the State Government, exercise such powers and perform such duties as the Deputy Commissioner may assign to him.
