Section 59: General provision for punishment of offences

General provision for punishment of offences.

- Whoever contravenes any provision of this Act or of any rule or order made thereunder shall, if no other penalty is provided for the offence, on conviction, be punished-

(a)

for a first offence with fine which may extend to [five hundred rupees] [These words were substituted for the words 'fifty rupees' by Maharashtra 37 of 1999, Section 13(a).],

(b)

for a subsequent offence with fine which may extend to [one thousand rupees] [These words were substituted for the words 'two hundred rupees' by Maharashtra 37 of 1999, Section 13(b).]
