Section 135: Certain services to be provided by local authority and Panchayat to be responsible for collection and payment of taxes, fees and charges
Certain services to be provided by local authority and Panchayat to be responsible for collection and payment of taxes, fees and charges.
(1)
Notwithstanding anything contained in any law governing the local authority concerned, a Municipal Corporation, a Municipal Council or any other local authority having jurisdiction in any slum improvement area, shall provide water supply and drainage and scavenging, cleansing, lighting and other services, in the said area, as it provides in other areas within its jurisdiction, and also such additional services, as the Board may in respect of any slum improvement area specify in this behalf.(2)
Where there is a Panchayat, the Panchayat shall be responsible to the local authority to collect from the occupiers and other persons liable therefor the taxes, fees and charges due for the services so provided, and to arrange to pay the amount due from time to time to the local authority concerned.Disclaimer: This section is reproduced for general informational and reference purposes only.
