Section 139: Contracts

Contracts.

(1)

For the purposes of this Chapter, the Sarpanch shall be competent to make and execute on behalf of the Panchayat, any contract with any person :Provided that, no contract shall be made unless specifically authorised by the Panchayat by passing resolution to that effect, and no contract involving an expenditure exceeding Rs. 1,000 shall be made without the previous sanction of the Chairman.

(2)

Every contract shall be entered into in such manner and form as may be prescribed.
