The Allahabad High Court on Monday granted interim anticipatory bail to Dr. Madri Kakoti, an assistant professor in the Linguistics Department of the University of Lucknow, who was booked under various charges, including those related to endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India, for her alleged social media posts on the Pahalgam terror attack.
The relief was granted by a bench of Justice Rajeev Singh. The FIR against Kakoti was filed on the basis of a complaint by Jatin Shukla, a student and member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

According to the FIR, Kakoti allegedly made continuous posts on Twitter that were said to attack the sovereignty and integrity of India. The complaint claimed that her posts posed a threat to peace and law and order, and that her intention was to incite riots.
"Her tweets include objectionable and provocative words like 'saffron-terrorist' and have also been circulated by Pakistani media outlets,"
— stated the FIR.

The FIR further claimed that her content was shared by foreign media, including Pakistani platforms, amplifying its impact.
"The nature of the posts raises serious concerns regarding national integrity and public harmony,"
— the complaint noted.

Dr. Kakoti was represented in court by Advocate Syed Mohammad Haider Rizvi, who sought protection from arrest. The case was filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for offences related to sedition and causing public disharmony.
The interim bail order provides temporary protection from arrest while further proceedings continue.
