The Allahabad High Court has dismissed a criminal writ petition filed by a man against his own family, observing that the allegations made were “baseless” and “scandalous.” The Court noted that the plea, which sought action over an alleged sex racket, stemmed from a deeply fractured family dispute rather than credible evidence.

Background of the Case

The case, Shivram vs State of U.P. and 3 Others (Criminal Misc. Writ Petition No. 23014 of 2025), was heard by a division bench of Justice J.J. Munir and Justice Vinai Kumar Dwivedi. The petitioner, appearing in person, had levelled serious allegations against his wife and daughters, claiming their involvement in immoral activities and a supposed sex racket operating in the city.

During earlier proceedings, the Court had referred the matter to the High Court’s Mediation and Conciliation Centre in an attempt to resolve the family dispute. However, mediation efforts failed, with the report indicating no possibility of reconciliation.

The bench took a critical view of the petitioner’s conduct and allegations. It observed that the petitioner appeared to hold a self-righteous stance, making sweeping accusations against his own family without substantiated proof.

“The petitioner… thinks himself to be a crusader against all immoralities in society,” the bench remarked, noting that his claims were not only serious but also damaging in nature.

The Court also expressed concern over the manner in which the issue was presented.

“This petition is about a family dispute and to bring in the allegations of a sex racket is the most abominable way of placing a family cause before the Court,” it said.

To verify the claims, digital evidence submitted by the petitioner - including videos, images, and metadata - was examined by the C3iHub (Cybersecurity and Cybersecurity of Cyber-Physical Systems) at IIT Kanpur. The forensic report concluded that there was no match between the individuals shown in the materials and the petitioner’s family members.

It further noted that the media files were around 10–12 years old and suggested “incorrect or misleading identity association.”

Relying on this report, the Court found that the allegations were unfounded.

“The wild allegations… are a bundle of falsehood,” the bench observed.
