A Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) court in Delhi on October 21, ordered the release of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after accepting their sureties.
The duo were detained following a protest attempt at Jantar Mantar on October 13. Their judicial custody was extended by two days on October 19 amid concerns over a possible breach of peace.
The SEM court had earlier observed that their conduct raised concerns about compliance with the law. After their custody period ended, the court accepted their sureties and ordered their release.
The two had also withdrawn their petition challenging the custody order before the Delhi High Court.
