On 26 August 2025, the Commercial Court, Delhi (District Judge Hemani Malhotra) heard a case filed by FoodTechBiz (OPC) Pvt Ltd and its founder-editor Mandeep Kaur against Stand Point Media (OPC) Pvt Ltd (operator of Foodinfotech.com) and its director Manas Nandi.
FoodTechBiz alleged that its rival website, Foodinfotech, had been copying and republishing its original articles, press releases, and photographs without permission, thereby misleading readers and infringing copyright.
- Original Platform: FoodTechBiz is a leading B2B digital magazine for the food and beverage industry, regularly publishing exclusive news, interviews, and trade fair coverage.
- Plagiarism by Defendants: Foodinfotech allegedly copied and published FoodTechBiz’s original articles, event reports, and even photographs taken during the IFFA Fair 2025 in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Repeated Violations: Despite multiple emails (April 2022, July 2022, and April 2024) raising concerns, Foodinfotech continued copying content.
- Legal Notice Ignored: A notice dated 19 May 2025 demanded removal of plagiarized content, but the defendants neither complied nor responded.
The plaintiff argued that the defendants’ conduct caused “irreparable harm” and confusion among readers, as both platforms had similar names and target audiences.
The court carefully reviewed the evidence, including:
- Comparison charts of articles.
- Emails exchanged between the parties.
- Original photographs taken by Mandeep Kaur at IFFA 2025.
The court held:
“The plaintiffs have made out a prima facie case and balance of convenience in their favour. Irreparable harm will be caused if injunction is not granted.”
Granting ex-parte ad interim injunction, the court directed Foodinfotech to:
- Take down infringing content from its website, including:
https://www.foodinfotech.com/essentia-showcases-meat-innovation-at-iffa-2025/
https://www.foodinfotech.com/vishakha-showcases-packaging-solutions-at-iffa-2025/
- Stop further publication of copied stories, photos, and articles from FoodTechBiz’s platform.
The court also issued summons of the suit and notices under Order XXXIX Rules 1 and 2 CPC, returnable on 10 October 2025.
The matter will be taken up again on 10 October 2025, where Foodinfotech will be required to respond to the allegations. Meanwhile, the injunction remains in force, protecting FoodTechBiz’s original content.
