Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, retired judge of the Supreme Court of India, has officially taken charge as the Chairperson of the 23rd Law Commission of India.
Alongside Justice (Retd.) Maheshwari, Advocate Hitesh Jain and Professor DP Verma from the Faculty of Law, Banaras Hindu University, have also assumed their roles as members of the Commission.
"Their tenure will continue until August 30, 2027."
The previous panel, the 22nd Law Commission, was headed by Justice (Retired) Ritu Raj Awasthi, who formerly served as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
That Commission also included Justice KT Sankaran, a retired judge of the Kerala High Court, along with Professor Anand Paliwal, Professor DP Verma, Dr. Raka Arya, and Shri M. Karunanithi as its members.
