Justice V. Lakshminarayanan passed the order. The detailed order was awaited, and the Court’s reasons were not available in the initial report.

The FIR followed a complaint alleging that Tamil Nadu Private Schools Association president B. T. Arasukumar and other office bearers collected money from private schools on promises of securing recognition, licences, no-objection certificates and renewals. The prosecution subsequently sought to add provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and name Mahesh as an accused.

He also contended that some individuals had allegedly used his name to collect money from schools. These submissions remain allegations and have not been established through trial.

Justice Lakshminarayanan dismissed the anticipatory bail plea.
