The Madhya Pradesh High Court at Jabalpur has issued arrest warrants against two IAS Officers in a contempt petition, observing that the respondents were aware of the proceedings but had neither appeared before the Court nor filed a compliance report.
The order was passed in CONC No. 4449 of 2025, Smt. Sheela Sen v. Shri Vivek Prowal and Others, on September 10, 2026. The Court noted that notices had been served on the respondents in September 2025. The Collector, District Sagar, had also informed the Registry that the Tehsildar, Sagar City, had been appointed as a Contact Officer for the contempt matter.
Justice Vivek Jain expressed displeasure over the respondents' failure to participate in the proceedings despite being aware of the case.
“It, therefore, appears that both the respondents are fully aware of pendency of this contempt petition, and they have even written a letter to the Registry of this Court but have not cared to enter appearance before this Court by engaging any counsel nor have filed any compliance report.”
Therefore, this court has no option but to issue arrest warrants against the respondents. The warrants were directed to be executed by the Commissioner of Police, Bhopal and the Superintendent of Police, Sagar, with directions to ensure their presence before the Court on September 21, 2026. The matter was accordingly listed for that date.
