A Patna court granted anticipatory bail to educator Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, in a criminal case linked to the firing incident outside his coaching institute earlier this year. The court also extended the same protection to three employees of Khan Global Studies (KGS), while the two security guards accused of opening fire had already obtained regular bail.
Background of the Case
The case arose after violence erupted outside Khan Global Studies in Patna's Musallahpur Haat area in early June. According to the prosecution, a group allegedly attacked the coaching institute and damaged property during a confrontation said to involve persons connected with rival coaching centres.
Soon after the incident, videos surfaced showing two security guards allegedly firing licensed rifles outside the institute. Police then registered a separate FIR alleging offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. During the investigation, the guards allegedly stated that they had acted on instructions from Khan Sir and other institute officials, leading to their inclusion in the case.
Khan Sir denied the allegation, maintaining that he never directed anyone to open fire and that the guards acted in self-defence after the institute came under attack.
The anticipatory bail plea was heard by the Principal District and Sessions Court, Patna. While granting relief, the court accepted the plea for pre-arrest protection.
"The court granted anticipatory bail to Faisal Khan and three staff members," the order recorded, while noting that the security guards had already been granted regular bail in the matter.
The court granted anticipatory bail to Faisal Khan, Kanhaiya Kumar Singh, Ajit Kumar and Ankit Kumar Pandey. The investigation into the alleged vandalism and the subsequent firing incident will continue in accordance with law.
