In a dramatic turn at the Patna High Court on Wednesday, the bench pulled up the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee for circulating an AI-generated video showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, Heeraben Modi. The clip, which had gone viral on social media, has now been ordered to be taken down immediately from all platforms.
Background
The video, shared on Congress’s Bihar unit accounts, depicted a fictional dream sequence where Heeraben allegedly rebukes her son for his policies. The petitioner, advocate Vivekanand Singh, said the clip was 'disgraceful and misleading,' especially as it surfaced during pitru paksh when the PM was performing rituals for his mother.

Acting Chief Justice PB Bajanthri and Justice Alok Kumar Sinha said the use of a deceased family member to attack political figures crosses ethical lines.
"The bench observed, Right to dignity extends even after death. Dragging a late mother into politics is unacceptable," they remarked.
