The President of India has appointed senior advocate Shri Arun Kumar as a Judge of the Allahabad High Court. The Ministry of Law and Justice issued the notification on 1st September 2025, confirming his appointment under Article 217(1) of the Constitution. He will take charge after assuming office in Prayagraj.
The notification, signed by Joint Secretary Jagann Srinivasan, stated,
'' In exercise of powers under Article 217(1) of the Constitution, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Arun Kumar to be a Judge of the Allahabad High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office."
The Allahabad High Court is one of the busiest courts in the country. Fresh judicial appointments like this are crucial to reduce the heavy backlog of cases and ensure faster justice delivery. Legal experts have welcomed the decision, noting that additional judges strengthen the bench and improve access to justice for citizens.
