The President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, has successfully raised over ₹43 crore for the welfare of advocates through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
An exact amount of ₹43,43,50,001/- was collected as part of this effort. This fundraising was part of Kapil Sibal’s campaign promise during the SCBA Presidential elections. The entire amount has been secured under the CSR initiative aimed at supporting the legal community.
The funds are intended to be used for purposes including medical reimbursements, lawyers’ insurance, and other welfare-related benefits for advocates.
“The welfare fund will cover medical claims, insurance and other support schemes for lawyers,” the SCBA stated.
To acknowledge and appreciate this significant contribution, the Friday Group — an academic forum of Supreme Court lawyers established by Advocate G. Seshagiri — organized a felicitation ceremony on April 9.
The event took place at Library 2 within the Supreme Court premises, where Kapil Sibal was honoured for his efforts towards the legal fraternity’s welfare.
“In recognition of his efforts in securing the welfare funds, the Friday Group felicitated SCBA President Kapil Sibal,” said a member present at the event.
