In a separate nod, Justice Biswajit Palit was confirmed for the Tripura High Court. The Madras High Court will also see two of its additional judges, Justice N. Senthilkumar and Justice G. Arul Murugan, elevated to full-time positions. Court insiders said the discussion was brisk, with senior judges emphasising the need to fill long-pending vacancies.

Lawyers present in the corridors welcomed the decision, calling it “timely” as several benches have been under strain from heavy case loads. The collegium’s recommendation now goes to the President for the formal warrant of appointment.

With these approvals, the Supreme Court signaled its intent to strengthen state judiciaries without delay. The matter ended with the collegium’s clear order of appointment on 15 September 2025.
