The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the appointment of three Additional Judges as permanent judges in the Kerala High Court. The decision was taken during its meeting on 25th August 2025.

Those confirmed as permanent Judges are:-

  • Justice Johnson John
  • Justice Gopinathan Unnithan Girish
  • Justice Chellappan Nadar Pratheep Kumar

All three were earlier serving as Additional Judges of the High Court.

The Collegium observed that strengthening High Courts with timely appointments is crucial for smooth judicial functioning. With the addition of permanent judges, the Kerala High Court is expected to handle its rising case backlog more effectively.
