The Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench, has granted short-term bail to Anuj Kumar Tiwari alias Golu to enable him to appear in the physical test for Uttar Pradesh Home Guard vacancies. Justice Rajeev Bharti passed the order, directing that Tiwari be released under police custody for the scheduled test and returned to jail the same day.
Background
Anuj Kumar Tiwari alias Golu approached the Allahabad High Court seeking short-term bail so that he could participate in the physical test for the Uttar Pradesh Home Guard vacancies. He had been in custody at District Jail, Raebareli, since May 10, 2026.
The physical test was scheduled for September 16, 2026, at 7:00 AM at Sports College, Nevlapur (Kodai Ghat), Joniyakalan, Fatehpur. His counsel also provided a copy of the admit card to the Court, which was taken on record.
During the hearing, the State informed the Court that Tiwari was involved in Case Crime No. 66 of 2026, registered at Jagatpur Police Station in Raebareli under Sections 191(3), 115(2), 352, 351(3), 333, 109 and 110 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
After considering the facts and circumstances of the case, the Allahabad High Court found it appropriate to permit the applicant to attend the physical test scheduled for September 16, 2026, for the Uttar Pradesh Home Guard vacancies.
The Court accordingly directed that the applicant be released on short-term bail on September 16, 2026, from 4:30 AM to 6:00 PM in police custody. Two police constables were ordered to escort him throughout the period and keep watch over his activities.
The Superintendent of Police, Raebareli, was directed to release the applicant from jail in the custody of the two police personnel. His custody was to be handed back to the Superintendent of Jail, Raebareli, by 6:00 PM on the same day.
The Court also directed the Registry to serve the order on the Superintendent of Police and Superintendent of Jail, Raebareli, within 24 hours for compliance. With these directions, the short-term bail application was disposed of.
