Section 23: Disqualification for appointment as Independent Member
Disqualification for appointment as Independent Member.
- A person shall not be eligible to be appointed as an Independent Member of the Commission if he-(a)
is not a citizen of India;(b)
has been convicted by the court or against whom charges of an offence involving moral turpitude have been framed by the court;(c)
has been dismissed, removed or compulsorily retired from any public service;(d)
has been declared insolvent by the court;(e)
is of unsound mind; or(f)
is or has been a Member of Parliament or the Legislature of a State or a local body; or is or has been an office-bearer of any political party or any organisation connected with a political party; or is or has been a member of any political party or any organisation affiliated to a political party.Previous
