- (1) There shall be a Chief
Electoral Officer who shall be such officer of the State
Government as the State Election Commission may, in
consultation with the State Government, designate or nominate in
this behalf.
(2) Subject to the superintendence, direction and control of
the State Election Commission-
(a) the Chief Electoral Officer shall supervise the
preparation, revision and correction of all
electoral rolls in the State under this Act;
(b) shall supervise the conduct of all elections in the
State under this Act; and
(c) shall exercise such other powers and functions as
the State Election Commission may direct.
