Section 190

Compulsory Provision of Footpaths

(1) The Municipality shall ensure, within a reasonable time, and subject to the availability of resources, that all public streets of such width as may be prescribed have raised footpaths adjoining such public streets. (2) Notwithstanding the existing situation, the Buildings Permission and Works Committee shall specify different minimum widths for footpaths so as to be not less than one and a half meters on each side in any case : Provided that more than one minimum width may be specified for the footpath abutting each category of Public Street so as to provide for different requirements owing to different abutting land uses : Provided further that while prescribing or revising any regular line of a public street, it shall be stipulated that the specification of minimum width for footpaths shall be complied with.
