- (1) The Municipality may give notice to an
owner, occupier or controller of commercial complexes, schools,
private hospitals, hotels, restaurants, rest houses, bazaars,
community centers, marriage halls, cinema halls, auditoria, clubs,
entertainment centers, amusement parks and other like private
places to erect sufficient latrines and urinals for the facility of users
of such places as the municipal authorities may think proper. It
shall also be lawful for the Chief Municipal Officer, to direct the management of such places to maintain and keep such latrines and
urinals clean and odourless. The Chief Municipal Officer should
also direct the management of such places to maintain latrines and
urinals for ladies separately.
(2) The Chief Municipal Officer or any other Officer
authorized by him shall visit, from time to time, such latrines/
urinals to ensure that necessary steps are being taken for sanitation
and hygiene.
(3) The management of such places shall be bound to
comply with the orders and directions of the Chief Municipal
Officer in this connection.
(4) The person in charge of such places shall be punished, on
conviction, with fine which shall not be less than ten thousand rupees
but which may extend to twenty thousand rupees in case of noncompliance of the orders or directions of the Chief Municipal Officer.
