Section 21

Persons Qualified for Being Members.

- Subject to the provisions contained in sections 6 and 24 a person shall not be qualified to be chosen to fill a seat on a Municipality unless- (a) in the case of a seat reserved for the Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes or the Backward Classes, such person is a member of any of these Castes or Tribes or Classes, as the case may be, and is an elector for any ward in the Municipality; (b) in the case of a seat reserved for a woman, such person belongs to the female sex and is an elector for any ward in the Municipality; (c) in the case of a seat reserved for a woman belonging to the Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes or the Backward Classes, such person is a member of any of these castes or tribes or classes, as the case may be, and is an elector for any ward in the Municipality and belongs to the female sex; (d) in the case of any other seat, such person is an elector for any ward in the Municipality; and (e) he has attained the age of 21 years, in either case whether the seat is reserved or not.
