Power to Restrict Or Ban Manufacture Etc. of Plastic Bags.

-(1) Subject to any other law for the time being in force and any general or special orders of the State Government, the Municipality shall have power to restrict or ban, by notification in the Official Gazette, manufacture, sale or use of any kind of plastic bags in any part or whole of the municipal area. (2) Whoever contravenes the restriction or ban imposed under sub-section (1), shall, on conviction, be punishable with simple imprisonment which may extend to three months, or with fine which shall not be less than one hundred rupees but which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both, and with further fine which may extend to fifty rupees for every day or night, as the case may be, on which such offence is continued after the date of first conviction.
