(1) If an agreement is not arrived with respect to any
compensation or damages which are by this Act directed to be
paid, the amount and if necessary, the apportionment of the same
shall be ascertained and determined by such officer as may be
appointed or authorized in this behalf by the Director of Local
Bodies:
Provided that nothing in this sub-section shall prevent the
aggrieved party from seeking redress in a civil court of competent
jurisdiction.
(2) In any case where compensation is claimed in respect
of any land, the procedure prescribed by the Land Acquisition Act,
1894 (Central Act No. 1 of 1894) for proceedings in matters
referred for the determination of the court shall, as far as possible,
be followed.
