- (1) All or any of the Municipalities in the State may
combine to form an Union to be called the Rajasthan State
Municipal Boards Union or by any such other name as may be
notified by the State Government, provided that no such Union
shall be formed unless more than half the number of
Municipalities in the State severally pass a resolution signifying
their intention to become members thereof.
(2) The functions of the Union formed under sub-section
(1) of this section shall be-
(i) to examine issues of common interest to
Municipalities;
(ii) to disseminate information regarding such issues;
(iii) to make suitable representations to the State
Government and other agencies on matters of
common interest;
(iv) to provide assistance and consultancy services to
the Municipalities on the improvement of
municipal administration; and
(v) to perform such other functions as the State
Government may from time to time assign to it.
(3) The following matters shall be regulated and governed
by the rules made by the State Government, namely: -
(a) the constitution and aims and objects of the Union;
(b) the amount and the method of contribution by the
Municipalities to the Union;
(c) the management and control of finances of the
Union including maintenance of accounts and their
audit; and
(d) other such matters as may be necessary for the
purpose of this section:
Provided that no person shall be eligible to represent in the
Union unless he is for the time being the Chairperson of a
Municipality.
