(1) Subject to the provisions
of this Act and the Statutes and Regulations made thereunder, the Board of
Inspections shall perform the following functions :—
(a) receive all applications for recognition or affiliation of colleges and other teaching institutions including all applications for recognition in new courses or subjects referred to it by the Syndicate and cause an inspection to be made and lay its report before the Syndicate for decision ;
(b) appoint inspectors for the inspection of a college once at least within a period of three years after the grant to it of the privileges of an affiliated or constituent college or after the inspection last held, consider the report of the inspectors and forward it to the Syndicate with its recommendations.
(2) The inspection of colleges and other teaching institutions applying for affiliation or recognition shall be conducted 1[by a committee to be appointed by the Board of inspection] as a whole. In the case of a college applying for recognition in new courses or subjects the Committee of Inspection shall consist of the following members :—
(a) one member of the Board of Inspection nominated by the ViceChancellor ;
(b) the Heads of the University Departments concerned, if there are any in the subjects ; and
(c) the Dean of the Faculty concerned.
