Construction of reference to "local boards" Madras Local Boards Act, 1920, etc.
- In the application of any law, rule, bye-law, regulation, notification, scheme, form or order to any Panchayat after the constitution of a Panchayat under this Act, in the absence of an intention to the contrary appearing in this Act and unless the Government otherwise direct -(i)
any reference to a village or local area shall be deemed to be a reference to a Panchayat village, Panchayat Development Block or a Panchayat Union or a Panchayat District as the circumstances may require;(ii)
any reference to local boards shall be deemed to be a reference to District Panchayats, Panchayat Union Councils or Village Panchayats, as the case may be;(iii)
any reference to the Madras Local Boards Act, 1920 (Madras Act XIV of 1920), shall be deemed to be a reference to the Tamil Nadu District Boards Act, 1920 (Tamil Nadu Act XIV of 1920), the Tamil Nadu Village Panchayats Act, 1950 (Tamil Nadu Act X of 1950), the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1958 (Tamil Nadu Act XXXV of 1958) and the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act21 of 1994
);(iv)
any reference to the Tamil Nadu District Boards Act, 1920 (Tamil Nadu Act XIV of 1920) or the Tamil Nadu Village Panchayats Act, 1950 (Tamil Nadu Act X of 1950), or the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1958 (Tamil Nadu Act XXXV of 1958), shall be deemed to be a reference to the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act21 of 1994
); and(v)
any reference to a district board or its President shall be deemed to be a reference to the Panchayat Union Council having jurisdiction or its Chairman, as the case may be.Previous
