Section 53: Cessation of office of Chairman and Vice-Chairman of a Panchayat Union Council
Cessation of office of Chairman and Vice-Chairman of a Panchayat Union Council.
- The Chairman and Vice-Chairman shall cease to hold office as such -(a)
in the case of the Chairman of a Panchayat Union Council on his becoming disqualified for holding the office or on his removal from office or on the expiry of his term of office or on his otherwise ceasing to be Chairman or member of the Panchayat Union Council;(b)
in the case of the Vice-Chairman, [on his becoming disqualified for holding the office or on his removal from office or] [These words were inserted by Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Third Amendment) Act, 1999 (Tamil Nadu Act 29 of 1999).] on the expiry of his term of office as a member of the Panchayat Union Council or on his otherwise ceasing to be a member of the Panchayat Union Council.Previous
