[ Appointment of Special Officer to certain Village Panchayats. [Added by Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Amendment) Act, 2005 (Tamil Nadu Act 6 of 2005) w.e.f. 6-3-2005.]

Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act or in any other law for the time being in force, the Government may, by notification, appoint a Special Officer to the Village Panchayats specified in Schedule VII, which could not be reconstituted in accordance with the provisions of this Act on the 6th day of March 2005, to exercise the powers and discharge the duties of the said Village Panchayats.(2)
The Special Officer appointed under sub-section (1) shall hold office for a period of [one year and eight months] or until the date on which the first meeting of the re-constituted Village Panchayats are held after election to the said Village Panchayats, whichever is earlier.]Previous
