Section 12: Cognizance of offence
Cognizance of offence
No Magistrate shall take cognizance of an offence punishable under Section 10, except--(a)
upon a report in writing of the facts constituting such offence made by a police officer; or(b)
upon information received from any person other than a police officer, or upon his own knowledge or suspicion, that such offence has been committed.Previous
