Interpretation

In this Act-unless there be something repugnant in the subject or context:--

(1)

" Inspector General of Registration" and "Registrar " respectively mean the officers so designated and appointed under the Indian Registration Act, 1908 (Act XVI of 1908), or other law for the time being in force for the registration of documents.

(2)

"Muslim Registrar" means any person who is duly authorised under this Act to register Muslim marriages and divorces.

(3)

"District" means a district formed under the provisions of the Registration Act, 1908 (Act XVI of 1908).

(4)

"Pardanasheen" designates a woman who according to custom objects to appear in a public office.
