Central Government Appoints 13 Judges to Strengthen Nine High Courts Across India

In a significant move to bolster the Indian judiciary, the Central Government has approved the appointment of 13 judges across nine High Courts. This initiative includes both the elevation of existing Additional Judges to permanent status and the induction of new appointees from the Bar and judicial services.

Appointments Across High Courts:

Madras High Court:

  • Justice Venkatachari Lakshminarayanan has been elevated from Additional Judge to permanent Judge.
  • Justice Periyasamy Vadamalai has also been confirmed as a permanent Judge.

Telangana High Court:

  • Justice Laxminarayana Alishetty has been made a permanent Judge.
  • Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti has been elevated to permanent Judge.
  • Justice Sujana Kalasikam has been confirmed as a permanent Judge.

Madhya Pradesh High Court:

  • Advocate Ashish Shroti has been appointed as a Judge.

Uttarakhand High Court:

  • Advocate Alok Mahra has been appointed as a Judge.

Delhi High Court:

  • Advocate Tejas Dhirenbhai Karia has been appointed as a Judge.

Punjab and Haryana High Court:

  • Advocate Harmeet Singh Grewal has been appointed as an Additional Judge.
  • Advocate Deepinder Singh Nalwa has also been appointed as an Additional Judge.

Karnataka High Court:

  • Advocate Taj Ali Moulasab Nadaf has been appointed as an Additional Judge.

Gauhati High Court:

  • Judicial Officer Yarenjungla Longkumer has been appointed as an Additional Judge.

Calcutta High Court:

  • Judicial Officer Chaitali Chatterjee (Das) has been appointed as an Additional Judge.

These appointments come at a crucial time when many High Courts are grappling with a backlog of cases. The infusion of experienced advocates and judicial officers is anticipated to enhance the efficiency of the judicial system.
