Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has declined a meeting request from Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, citing the pendency of related matters before the Supreme Court.
According to reports citing sources, the CJI conveyed that the issues were already sub judice, meaning they were under judicial consideration. He also clarified that the Supreme Court could not intervene in government functioning through its administrative side.
The leaders remain free to approach the Court judicially. Any fresh petition may be heard alongside related SIR matters listed for October 13, 2026.
