The Supreme Court of India has adjourned the hearing of a petition challenging the Delhi High Court's ruling in the CLAT-UG 2025 matter to tomorrow. The case pertains to a judgment that directed the Consortium of National Law Universities to revise the merit list for the CLAT-UG 2025 due to errors found in certain sets of question papers.
A bench comprising Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Viswanathan was expected to hear the matter today, but it could not proceed as another case was scheduled in the afternoon. Notably, the Court had previously issued a notice and stayed the Delhi High Court's judgment after a Special Leave Petition (SLP) was filed by a candidate.

During today’s proceedings, the bench was informed that another candidate had also filed a fresh petition challenging the Division Bench’s judgment of the Delhi High Court.
"We had challenged three questions. One was allowed by the single bench, but the division bench reversed it. The Consortium had acceded to the question being wrong,"
— Counsel for the petitioner told the bench, requesting listing of the new SLP along with the earlier one tomorrow.
The case centers around errors in the CLAT-UG 2025 examination held on December 1, 2024. According to the Delhi High Court’s findings, four questions across Sets B, C, and D contained errors. The Court directed the CLAT Consortium to award marks for these questions to candidates who attempted these particular sets and to revise the merit list accordingly within four weeks.
However, the A Set candidates were not given the same benefit, as the High Court stated that Set A did not contain errors. This selective benefit has led to legal challenges by candidates who appeared for the A Set.
The main petitioner in the Supreme Court had attempted the A Set and secured All India Rank (AIR) 22. She argued that the Delhi High Court’s judgment placed A Set candidates at a disadvantage compared to those who appeared for other sets.
"The High Court's direction denied a level playing field to A Set candidates,"
— the petitioner contended in her plea.
Initially, in December 2024, a single judge of the Delhi High Court had acknowledged that two answers in the CLAT-UG 2025 exam were incorrect and directed the Consortium to revise the result for the affected petitioners. However, the Consortium challenged this decision before a Division Bench, which issued its ruling on April 23, 2025. The bench comprised Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela.

Earlier in February 2025, the Supreme Court had also transferred similar petitions from various High Courts to the Delhi High Court, consolidating the legal proceedings concerning CLAT-UG 2025 results.
With multiple petitions now pending before the Supreme Court, the legal scrutiny over the fairness of the CLAT-UG 2025 evaluation and merit list continues, raising critical questions about equal treatment of candidates across different question sets. The matter will be heard again tomorrow.
