In a swift move just days before the film’s scheduled release, the Delhi High Court has ordered the blocking of 24 piracy websites accused of illegally streaming or offering downloads of the upcoming Bollywood movie Jolly LLB 3. Justice Tejas Karia passed the order on September 12, 2025, after hearing a plea by Jiostar India Private Limited, the film’s producer and rights holder.
Background
Jiostar India, represented by advocates Sidharth Chopra and team, told the court it holds exclusive worldwide rights to distribute Jolly LLB 3, slated to hit theatres on September 19. The company pointed to a long list of rogue sites-like Vegamovies and Filmyzilla-known for leaking films within hours of release.

“These platforms are not geo-restricted and can be accessed anywhere in India,” counsel argued, warning of “irreparable financial loss” if urgent action was not taken.
Court’s Observations
Justice Karia noted that piracy posed a “recurring threat” and recalled earlier rulings granting “dynamic” injunctions—orders that adapt to new infringing sites discovered after a film’s release. “Any delay in blocking access to these websites could lead to significant monetary damage,” the bench observed. The judge emphasized that copyright protection must keep pace with fast-moving digital piracy, adding that remedies should be “effective and swift.”

Decision
Granting an ex-parte ad-interim injunction, the court restrained 24 named websites from hosting or streaming the film without authorization. Domain registrars and internet service providers were directed to block, disable, and deactivate the listed domains within 72 hours. Government agencies, including the Department of Telecommunications and the Ministry of Electronics and IT, must also issue notifications to internet providers to enforce the blocks. The order allows Jiostar India to report new infringing domains in real time, which authorities must promptly block without waiting for another court hearing.
With this order, the court effectively shields Jolly LLB 3 from pre-release leaks while scheduling the next hearing for January 20, 2026.
