Allahabad High Court Strengthened with 26 Fresh Judges Approved by SC Collegium

The Supreme Court Collegium has cleared the appointment of 26 new Judges to the Allahabad High Court, giving a major boost to India’s largest High Court. The decision was taken in its meeting on 1st September 2025.

Out of the total names, 14 are judicial officers including:-

  • Dr. Ajay Kumar-II
  • Shri Chawan Prakash
  • Shri Divesh Chandra Samant
  • Shri Prashant Mishra-I
  • Shri Tarun Saxena
  • Shri Rajeev Bharti
  • Shri Padam Narain Mishra
  • Shri Lakshmi Kant Shukla
  • Shri Jai Prakash Tiwari
  • Shri Devendra Singh-I
  • Shri Sanjiv Kumar
  • Smt. Vani Ranjan Agrawal
  • Shri Achal Sachdev
  • Smt. Babita Rani

Alongside them, 12 advocates have also been elevated.

The list includes:-

They bring years of courtroom experience to the bench.

Highlighting the importance of timely justice, the Collegium remarked,

"Appointments are vital to ensure justice is not delayed for citizens."

With these additions, the Allahabad High Court is expected to handle its heavy caseload more efficiently, offering quicker hearings and relief to lakhs of litigants in Uttar Pradesh.
