Background of the Case

The petitioner, represented by Advocate Shiv Gaur, claimed that his neighbor, Respondent No. 4, had been threatening and harassing him following a court order restraining construction activities on his property. Basak sought immediate police protection and urged the court to direct the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mehrauli Police Station to register his complaint and take preventive action.

During the proceedings, the learned Additional Standing Counsel (ASC) for the Delhi government, Ms. Rupali Bandhopadhya, informed the court that both parties were neighbors and had filed multiple complaints against each other. The petitioner’s counsel later chose not to press for the registration of a formal complaint, stating that alternative legal remedies would be pursued.

Justice Kathpalia disposed of the petition with a clear directive:

“The SHO PS Mehrauli is directed to communicate his mobile phone number and the mobile phone number of the beat constable to the petitioner and respond as and when the petitioner calls up in urgency.”

This order ensures that the petitioner can reach out to the police immediately in case of any threat or emergency. The court also disposed of the pending application, emphasizing the need for prompt action by the local police.
