Delhi High Court Informed: Video on Sadhguru, Isha Foundation Removed, YouTuber Shyam Meera Singh's Case Continues

The Delhi High Court has been informed that YouTuber Shyam Meera Singh's allegedly defamatory video targeting Isha Foundation and its spiritual leader, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, has been taken down.

During the hearing, Singh’s counsel confirmed this development before Justice Jyoti Singh, who is handling the defamation suit filed by Isha Foundation against Shyam Meera Singh.

The video, titled “Sadhguru EXPOSED: What's happening in Jaggi Vasudev's Ashram”, was uploaded on Singh’s YouTube channel on February 24. He also shared it on his ‘X’ page (formerly known as Twitter), alleging that minors were being exploited at the Ashram.

Justice Jyoti Singh granted Shyam Meera Singh time to file his response to the defamation suit and the interim injunction application filed by Isha Foundation. The matter has been scheduled for further proceedings before the Registrar on July 08 for completion of pleadings, and the main case will be heard on September 09.

In March, a coordinate bench of the High Court had already directed Singh to remove the video, stating that it was based on "unverified material" and that its title was "clickbait" intended to attract public attention.

The Court clearly expressed its view on the matter, stating:

“In the opinion of this Court, the contents as mentioned in the video are per se defamatory and the same directly impinge upon the reputation of the Plaintiff in eyes of the general public as it states that the Plaintiff follows certain practices which are not accepted in the society.”

The Court ordered defendants, including Google LLC, X Corp, and Meta Platforms, to ensure the removal of the video from their platforms. Singh was also restrained from further publishing or sharing the video. Additionally, the public was restricted from uploading the video on any social media platform.
