Supreme Court Judges to Publicly Disclose Their Assets

In a landmark decision to enhance transparency and strengthen public trust in the judiciary, all Supreme Court judges have agreed to make their asset declarations publicly available.

During a full-court meeting on April 1, the judges collectively decided to submit their asset details to the Chief Justice of India. These declarations will be made accessible to the public via the official website of the Supreme Court, as confirmed by sources familiar with the decision.

This move follows recent concerns about judicial integrity, particularly after reports surfaced about the alleged discovery of cash at the official premises of Justice Yashwant Varma during his tenure as a Delhi High Court judge.

"The process for publishing these asset declarations is currently being finalized."

As of now, all Supreme Court judges have submitted their asset declarations. However, these records have not yet been made public. With this decision, the judiciary aims to promote accountability and maintain transparency in the legal system.
