14 Advocate Appointed Additional Judges to Bombay High Court, Justice Shree Chandrashekhar Becomes Acting Chief Justice

The President of India has approved the appointment of 14 new Additional Judges to the Bombay High Court, a move aimed at easing the burden of pending cases in Maharashtra and Goa.

The appointments, notified on 27 August 2025 by the Ministry of Law and Justice, will be valid for two years under Article 224 of the Constitution.

The newly appointed judges include:-

  • Shri Siddheshwar Sundarrao Thombre
  • Shri Mehroz Ashraf Khan Pathan
  • Shri Ranjitsinha Raja Bhonsale
  • Shri Nandesh Shankarrao Deshpande
  • Shri Amit Satyavan Jamsandekar
  • Shri Ashish Sahadev Chavan
  • Shri Sandesh Dadasaheb Patil
  • Shri Vaishali Nimbajirao Patil-Jadhav
  • Shri Abasaheb Dharmaji Shinde
  • Shri Shreeram Vinayak Shirsat
  • Shri Hiten Shamrao Venegavkar
  • Shri Farhan Parvez Dubash
  • Shri Rajnish Ratnakar Vyas
  • Shri Raj Damodar Wakode

On the same day,

Justice Shree Chandrashekhar was appointed to discharge the duties of Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court. This follows the elevation of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe to the Supreme Court of India.

Legal experts believe the appointments will provide much-needed support to the court. As one senior lawyer remarked,

"Every new judge brings hope for quicker justice to thousands of litigants."

With fresh appointments and interim leadership in place, the Bombay High Court is set to strengthen its role in ensuring timely justice across Maharashtra and Goa.
