Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad, who was arrested by the Haryana Police over a Facebook post related to 'Operation Sindoor,' has now approached the Supreme Court of India seeking relief.
The case was mentioned by Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal before Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai, highlighting the urgency of the matter. Sibal emphasized the nature of the post, describing it as an "entirely patriotic statement."

"Mylords, a professor at Ashoka University has been proceeded against for an entirely patriotic statement on Operation Sindoor. Mylords may list it immediately," Sibal urged.
Responding to the plea, CJI Gavai agreed to list the matter for hearing day after tomorrow, ensuring prompt judicial consideration.
The arrest of Professor Mahmudabad followed a Magistrate’s decision yesterday, which placed him under two days of police custody. The situation has sparked discussions on freedom of speech and the implications of social media posts, especially when linked to sensitive subjects.
The Supreme Court's hearing will be crucial in determining the next course of action for Professor Mahmudabad, as it may set a significant precedent for similar cases in the future.
