The plea was presented before a bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi on Thursday. Represented by senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, the foundation sought immediate relief and requested the court to list the matter as early as possible. The court has scheduled the hearing for next Monday.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi urged the bench for relief, saying, "He cannot continue this work by getting transferred… Let us stop him from running this defamatory campaign."

The legal battle began last year when Isha Foundation filed a defamation suit in the Delhi High Court, alleging that certain publications by Nakkheeran had harmed its reputation. The foundation sought damages of ₹3 crore for the alleged defamatory material.

In response, Nakkheeran Publications filed a transfer petition in the Supreme Court, seeking transfer of the defamation case from Delhi to Chennai, citing convenience of jurisdiction.

Now, Isha Foundation has filed an interim application (IA) in the pending transfer petition, seeking to restrain the media house from publishing any further defamatory material until the case is decided.

During the hearing, Mr Rohatgi strongly criticised the online campaign allegedly being run by the Tamil publication and said:

“We are a charitable organisation with followers across the world… Today, on social media, he is speaking continuously…”

He also said that if Nakkheeran wants the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court to be exercised in the transfer case, the ongoing media activity should be stopped.

"If he wants the jurisdiction of this court to be exercised, he has to stop doing this," Rohatgi said.
