The term 'Operation Sindoor' is associated with a significant military operation launched by the Indian armed forces during the intervening night of May 6-7. The operation targeted terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK), following the Pahalgam terror attack, where 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali citizen lost their lives.
The Ministry of Defence, in a press release issued on May 7, provided a detailed statement about the operation. According to the Ministry:
"A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched 'OPERATION SINDOOR', hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed. Altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted. Our actions have been focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution."

The Ministry further highlighted that this action was a direct response to the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack, demonstrating India’s commitment to holding the perpetrators accountable.
