On Thursday, the Supreme Court clarified that it has not passed any order regarding the release of the film 'Udaipur Files'. The court said that it had refused to list it for urgent hearing only when the matter was mentioned a day earlier.
Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, raised the issue again before a bench of Justices Sudhanshu Dhulia and Joymalya Bagchi at 1 pm on Thursday. He informed the court that due to reports of the Supreme Court refusing to grant relief in relation to the film, the Delhi High Court is now hesitant to pass any interim order on the related petition.

Sibal argued, "I had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court. The Chief Justice of the High Court asked me that there is a case pending here. It has neither been heard nor listed. Oral comments have been made by you."
Responding to this concern, Justice Dhulia clarified:
"We said we are not hearing urgently."
Mohammad Javed, an accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case, had filed a petition in the Supreme Court. The petition sought a stay on the release of the film 'Udaipur Files', arguing that the film may affect his right to a fair trial.

However, on the previous day, the Supreme Court had refused to list the case as urgent before the scheduled release date of the film, which is July 11. The court advised the petitioner's counsel to mention the matter again when the court reopens next week.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court is separately hearing a petition filed by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind seeking to stop the release of the film on the grounds that it is communally provocative.
