The Supreme Court on December 2, 2025, brought a quiet but decisive end to a prolonged legal battle involving Goregaon Pearl Co-operative Housing Society Limited, dismissing a set of curative petitions filed against earlier adverse rulings. The Court found no exceptional grounds to reopen the case, reinforcing the narrow scope of curative jurisdiction.
Background of the Case
The dispute traces its roots to civil appeals decided in October 2023, followed by review petitions rejected in February 2024. Unsuccessful in both rounds, the housing society approached the Supreme Court once again through Curative Petition (C) Nos. 199–201 of 2025.

Curative petitions are considered the last judicial remedy and are entertained only in rare circumstances where a serious miscarriage of justice is shown. The society argued that such exceptional circumstances existed in its case against respondents Sandeep Grover and another party.
The petitions were circulated before a five-judge Bench headed by the Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, along with Justices Vikram Nath, J.K. Maheshwari, and Pamidighantam Sri Narasimha.
After examining the pleadings and records, the Bench concluded that the case did not meet the strict legal standards laid down for curative petitions.
“The Court found no grounds to entertain the petitions within the parameters already settled,” the order noted, referring to the landmark ruling in Rupa Ashok Hurra v. Ashok Hurra, which governs curative jurisdiction.

Court Observation
The Bench observed that curative petitions are not meant to function as another round of appeal. Instead, they exist only to correct gross errors that strike at the very foundation of justice.
In this case, the judges were unanimous that no such exceptional error was demonstrated. The order recorded that the Court had “gone through the curative petitions and the relevant documents” but found no reason to interfere further.

Final Decision
Accordingly, the Supreme Court dismissed all three curative petitions. With this dismissal, any pending applications connected to the matter also stood disposed of.
The signed order was passed by circulation, formally closing the litigation that had spanned multiple stages before the apex court.
