The Madhya Pradesh High Court has granted bail to two men accused in a CBI-investigated case involving allegations of collecting money from candidates on the promise of securing government jobs. The Court observed that the investigation had been completed and that continued custody was not necessary at this stage.

Background of the Case

The case was registered by the CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch in Bhopal under provisions relating to criminal conspiracy, cheating, and corruption. According to the prosecution, several candidates were allegedly induced to pay money in exchange for promises of government employment.

One of the applicants, Ramarao Mundadla, is a CRPF constable. The second applicant, Mudili Janardhana Naidu, was alleged to have acted as an intermediary. Both had been in judicial custody since March 16, 2026.

The defence argued that the applicants themselves had been misled by another accused person and denied any wrongdoing. It was also pointed out that the investigation had concluded and a final report had already been filed.

Court's Observations

After examining the case diary and submissions from both sides, Justice Sanjeev S. Kalgaonkar noted that the issues raised by the applicants could not be dismissed outright and would ultimately be tested during trial.

“The veracity of the prosecution and complicity of the applicant in the alleged offence will be determined after evidence in the trial,”

the Court observed.

The Court further took note of the fact that neither applicant had any reported criminal antecedents. It also found no substantial material indicating that they were likely to abscond, tamper with evidence, or influence witnesses if released on bail.

Decision

Allowing the bail application, the High Court directed the release of both applicants on furnishing personal bonds of ₹50,000 each along with one surety of the same amount. The Court imposed standard conditions requiring their presence during trial and prohibiting any attempt to influence witnesses or interfere with evidence.

Additionally, applicant Ramarao Mundadla was directed to deposit ₹15 lakh before the trial court, which will remain in a fixed deposit and be dealt with according to the outcome of the case. With these conditions, the Court ordered the release of both applicants on bail.
