The Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai, has recommended the names of three senior judges from High Courts across the country for elevation to the Supreme Court.
The Collegium has named:
- Justice N V Anjaria, Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court. His parent High Court is Gujarat High Court.
- Justice Vijay Bishnoi, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court. His parent High Court is Rajasthan High Court.
- Justice Atul S Chandurkar, serving at the Bombay High Court.

This recommendation follows the long-standing practice of elevating High Court judges with significant judicial experience to the highest court in the country.
In the words of the Supreme Court Collegium:
“The recommendations are made keeping in view the seniority, merit, and integrity of the judges concerned, along with their overall contribution to the judiciary.”
Justice N V Anjaria has had a distinguished career in the judiciary, with a strong track record at both Gujarat and Karnataka High Courts. His appointment as Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court has been marked by his firm approach to upholding the rule of law.

Justice Vijay Bishnoi brings years of experience from the Rajasthan and Gauhati High Courts. Known for his deep understanding of constitutional law, his appointment as Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court was widely regarded as recognition of his contributions.
Justice Atul S Chandurkar has served in the Bombay High Court with dedication, handling numerous important cases and displaying notable legal acumen.
The Collegium’s decision highlights its commitment to ensuring that the Supreme Court is enriched with judges of proven competence and integrity from diverse regions and backgrounds.
“The appointments are crucial for maintaining the strength and efficiency of the Supreme Court,” the Collegium emphasized.
