The Supreme Court of India on 30 July 2025 dismissed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by Raj Kumar Bharti and others, challenging the judgment passed by the Allahabad High Court in Writ C No. 6490/2025 dated 3 July 2025.
The petitioners sought to contest the High Court’s decision regarding the eviction or demolition of premises, requesting intervention from the apex court.
The matter was heard by a bench comprising Hon’ble Mr. Justice J.K. Maheshwari and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vijay Bishnoi.

The court, after hearing arguments presented by Senior Advocate Mr. Sanjay Hegde and his legal team on behalf of the petitioners, refused to entertain the special leave petition at this stage.
“At this stage, we are not inclined to entertain the present special leave petition,”– Supreme Court Bench stated in its order.
Even though the SLP was dismissed, the petitioners’ counsel made a humble request for some time to vacate the premises before any potential demolition could be carried out.
The court granted liberty to the petitioners to approach the Allahabad High Court for an extension to vacate the premises.

“On filing of such an application, it may be looked into by the High Court and appropriate orders be passed in accordance with law,”– Supreme Court directed.
While the apex court dismissed the SLP, it left a narrow window open for the petitioners to seek relief from the High Court concerning the timeline of eviction. The case reflects the court’s adherence to due legal process while balancing humanitarian considerations.
